Air emissions - particulates (PM10)

AGL Loy Yang emissions increased 9%. Emissions are split roughly 50/50 between point source and fugitive sources. The increase in point source emissions aligns with the increase in coal combustion (up 12%) and total electricity generation (up 13%). Fugitive emissions include dust emissions and exhaust emissions from vehicles and equipment, and there was a 15% increase due to increased movement of vehicles onsite.

Bayswater Power Station emissions remained similar to the previous year. Emissions are split roughly 33/66 between point source and fugitive sources. Point source emissions, which are calculated using PM10 measured via stack tests and gas flow, decreased 4%. Fugitive emissions, which include dust emissions and exhaust emissions from vehicles and equipment, remained similar to the previous year.

AGL Torrens emissions decreased 15%. The decrease in emissions aligns with the overall decrease in natural gas combustion at Torrens Island Power Station and Barker Inlet Power Station (down 12%).

Notes

FY24 data was updated on November 2024. A subset of data (comprising emissions associated with the combustion of black coal at Bayswater and Liddell power stations, black and brown coal as well as natural gas at AGL Loy Yang Power Station, and gas and fuel oil at AGL Torrens Power Station) was reported with the initial release of the FY24 Data Centre on August 14.

For the purposes of this data set, AGL Torrens comprises the Torrens Island Power Station and the Barker Inlet Power Station which commenced operation in December 2019.

All figures have been rounded to the nearest kilogram.

Emissions from Kwinana Swift Power Station were included from FY20.
